Water is the basis of our life, which is why we at ATZWANGER also make wastewater clean again. We use the latest technologies, such as the wastewater treatment plant for Rovinj.
“Together with CID Srl, a company based in Udine, we won the contract to plan and construct a new wastewater treatment plant for the Adriatic city,” recalls Roberto Cossetto, ATZWANGER’s project manager. "It was a turnkey contract. We were responsible for project planning, implementation, commissioning, and management for the first year."
A year of planning was carried out in Bozen/Bolzano, concluding with a final inspection to ensure compliance with Croatian standards. ATZWANGER was also responsible for site management during the subsequent two-year implementation phase. “The construction work was carried out by local companies the system installation work was done directly by ATZWANGER personnel” says Cosetto. “Of course, the ATZWANGER team was responsible for the technical part and coordination.”
Following a successful commission and one year of operation, the wastewater treatment plant was handed over to the customer. It now transforms the city's wastewater into clean, reusable water for green spaces, gardens and agriculture. "The plant can treat up to 1,000 m³ of wastewater per hour and is designed to serve a population of up to 63,000," explains the project manager.
After commissioning and one year of successful operation, the wastewater treatment plant was handed over to the customer. It now turns the city's wastewater back into clean, reusable water – for green spaces and gardens, but also for agriculture. “Up to 1,000 m3 per hour can be treated and the capacity is designed for a maximum of 63,000 people,” explains the project manager. ‘The big challenge in Rovinj was the extremely variable capacity requirement. Outside of the tourist season, only around 10,000 people live in the town, but in summer this figure is much higher.” This is why the system was designed to be modular and perfectly adapted to the town's needs.
Just like the innovative MBR (membrane bioreactor) system: It delivers high performance and exceptional water quality with reduced space consumption. After all, the wastewater treatment plant boasts a stunning location overlooking the sea.
