‘The company started out as a thermohydraulics business, and building technology is still one of our strengths,’ explains Martin Atzwanger, delegate of the board of directors and responsible for the divisions of building-HVAC, drinking and wastewater and district heating. ‘In 1932, our grandfather Luis Atzwanger founded the ATZWANGER craft business in Bozen/Bolzano. After the Second World War, my father Peter and, soon after, my uncle, Paul, joined the family business.’
“We have always been, and still are, on the lookout for the latest technologies and innovative solutions in plant engineering. Our goal has always been to achieve what others have not yet managed to do. ATZWANGER is now the largest plant manufacturer in the region and is considered a pioneer in many areas. Initially, this was in central and underfloor heating systems, and later in turnkey biomass district heating plants, including district heating networks or state-of-the-art HVAC solutions,” he emphasises.
The skilled ATZWANGER team primarily designs and implements customised building technology for hotels, office buildings, hospitals, clinics and commercial buildings – mostly fully automated. ‘Of course, we also take on smaller projects,’ explains Martin Atzwanger. ‘We take on anything with a certain technical and technological significance where we can contribute our many years of experience and add value with our capabilities.’
Innovative heating and cooling systems ensure comfort and efficiency, while ventilation systems create a pleasant indoor climate – precisely tailored to the needs of our customers. And the sanitary plants are designed to meet the highest standards of hygiene and comfort.
His personal highlights include projects such as the recently inaugurated new headquarters of Alperia and Edyna in Meran/Merano, the new ‘Marconi’ and ‘Lévinas’ vocational schools in Meran/Merano, the new clinic at the Bozen/Bolzano Hospital, the 5-star ‘Forestis’ resort on the Plose, the Dr. Schär office building in Postal and the company building in Borgo Valsugana, the office building of the Chamber of Commerce and the Institute for Economic Research WIFI in Bozen/Bolzano, the new Bolzano Winery in Gries, the Haas laundry in Auer/Ora, the Melitta Clinic in Sigmundskron/Ponte d’Adige near Bozen/Bolzano and the entire building-HVAC for the Therme Meran/Terme Merano. “There, we supplied everything from pool water treatment to building technology,” he recalls. “But the list goes on and on,” he smiles.
“A building that reflects decades of experience is also our company headquarters,” he adds with satisfaction. “The building-HVAC has been working perfectly for almost 14 years, and there are no signs of wear anywhere in the building.”
